Cooking to Learn- Nourish Your Mind!          Miramichi Literacy Council in partnership with the Newcastle Rotary Club

     

In Cooking to Learn we have integrated reading and writing activities that motivate you to learn basic reading, writing and math skills with fun step-by-step cooking activities.

The easy-to-follow recipes offer life-skills experience as you, the student, prepare food using common inexpensive ingredients.

Learning Objectives:
This program is designed to provide “hands-on”, practical ways to help you increase reading comprehension, vocabulary, expressive language, problem solving, written language, math, and science skills. These skills are incorporated into each recipe-based lesson.

Prerequisites:
An intake assessment interview will be administered to determine level.

Location:
This class is located at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 67 King Street, Chatham, Miramichi.
